Ways to help

Volunteer Trail Days

Give back to the trails by attending a Volunteer Trail Day! The CHTC organizes trail day events where passionate volunteers come together to help the CHTC accomplish some of our ‘to do’ list so we can ensure the highest quality riding experience. Come spend a day digging in the dirt with us and maybe make some new friends along the way.

Event Volunteer

One of the most significant ways the CHTC raises funds to support the trails is through our events. We are always looking for passionate, positive volunteers to help events run smoothly. Contact us if you are interested in donating time to help with high-level event planning, day-of logistics, or just want to control traffic during a race.

Adopt-A-Trail

Through the Adopt-A-Trail program you (and your buddies, spouse, kids...) can volunteer to take care of a specific trail, helping to open the trail for the season, watching for trouble areas, and assisting with maintenance to keep the trails in prime riding condition. Adopt a trail for a season, renewable each year. No previous trail care experience is necessary, training will be provided.

How you help The Copper Harbor Trails thrive because of the thousands of volunteer hours put in each year by community members, CHTC supporters, and trail lovers. In addition, generous donors help fund CHTC's efforts and keep the gears turning behind the scenes. Building trail is an expensive endeavor, particularly in a region as remote and rugged as ours! We also must pay for insurance, race expenses, signage, and plenty of other necessities to keep the organization moving forward. Our tiny town of 100 year-round residents can't do it all and we appreciate any support we can get.
About us The Copper Harbor Trails Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are officially incorporated as the Copper Harbor Trails Society Inc., but we thought Club sounded more appealing at some point in our history and stuck with it. We partner with several other organizations in the Copper Country to improve trail access and conditions for all users. Our goal? To make the Keweenaw one of the top trail destinations not just in Michigan or the Midwest, but the world.
