Ways to help

Presenter

Do you have a special talent or presentation that kindergarten through fifth grade students would enjoy? We need community members to make our program a success. Here are some examples of activities we have had in the past: DJs, camp songs, storytellers, yoga, historical plays, music groups, karate, Native American dancing, robots, and Zumba. Presentations are about 45 minutes 3 times a day.

How you help Our program would not be able to continue the way that it has if it were not for our community support. Please contact us if you would like to share your talent or experiences with community students.
About us The Marquette-Alger Young Authors' Conference began with an idea to build literacy and authorship within our community. It started with a handful of educators and 347 first through sixth grade children. Over the past 39 years, the conference has grown to include 13 schools and about 3,000 children, pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The conference takes place over four days each May at Northern Michigan University, but literacy activities extend throughout the whole school year. The activities involve reading, researching, writing, illustrating, sharing, and finally publishing a book as a culminating project.
