A small group of dedicated volunteers who help maintain the Offield Family Viewlands Working Forest Reserve for community benefit. Year-round tasks include maintaining trails, flower beds, signs, and structures, helping with habitat restoration projects, and more.

Taking a hike with our wonderful, knowledgeable docents is a great way to get to know our natural areas. Annually, they lead over 500 people on hikes in all four seasons.

We appreciate help with staffing the desk during open hours, along with cataloging, filing, and circulation of library materials.

Greet visitors, give directions, answer questions, and provide information about the activities of the KIA.

Docents are trained guides who lead museum tours for children and adults. Candidate docents complete a 9-month training course before joining the docent corps, which is offered every two years. The next docent class will be forming in 2022. Docents sign up to lead 1-2 tours a month, for a total of 18 per year.
